The Young And The Restless (Y&R) scoop reveals Melissa Ordway’s (Abby Newman) husband Justin Gaston has been temporarily recast as Chance Chancellor.
The news broke this afternoon that Donny Boaz, who has been playing the part since late 2019, had tested positive for COVID-19 a few weeks ago. This meant he had to quarantine at home. However, he just returned to work so we’ll see him back as Chance soon enough.
“I have a little news that I need to share,” Boaz posted on Instagram. “I tested positive for COVID-19. Thankfully, I did not have any symptoms. I quarantined at home so you may not see me on Y&R for a bit.

“I’m happy to say I’ve returned to work and will be back on the air very soon,” Boaz continued. “Thank you for your continued support.”

Fans wished the actor well. “Bless your heart!!!” one fan commented. “I’m so glad you’re safe again!!” Another told him the news of his recovery was great. “Can’t wait to see you back on the show. So glad you are alright.”
Enter Ordway’s husband, who will be filling in during what’s been an action packed few weeks for Chance and Abby. As viewers know, Chance recently proposed to Abby and she said yes. Then he ended up in the hospital after pushing Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) out of the path of a speeding bullet and was shot himself.

This won’t be Gaston’s first soap gig. In 2014 he played the part of Ben Weston on Days Of Our Lives, a character now portrayed by Robert Scott Wilson. Gaston is also a singer songwriter and has appeared on prime time television series and movies.
The Soap Scoop is waiting with anticipation to see how this all plays out. Viewers will likely be treated to some real love scenes between Abby and Chance for a week or two, as opposed to the six feet away kind!
