Bold And The Beautiful (B&B) fans were stunned yesterday when Courtney Hope, who plays Sally Spectra, announced she was exiting the soap.
“An abrupt ending to a monumental journey,” Hope posted on Instagram. “The last three years have been amazing, and though I do not know what the future holds this chapter of Sally has sadly come to an end.”
Hope first appeared on the B&B in 2017. She played the great niece of fashion mogul Sally Spectra (the late Darlene Conley). Her feisty spitfire portrayal of the character was popular with fans.
Bold And The Beautiful News – Viewers Thought Sally Spectra Had A Second Chance
Viewers had already been mourning Hope’s imminent departure earlier this year, when Sally contracted a fatal illness and was given only months left to live. But then fans thought she’d gotten a reprieve when Sally’s storyline took a stunning turn – she had been faking her sickness to win back Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks).
After she announced her exit, fans immediately took to social media to wish her well . “Wait what? You are off the show?!” one fan posted on Twitter. “You were our Forrester, Logan, Spencer comedic break!”
“I wish you the very best in future ventures,” another viewer posted. “Loved the character of Sally Spectra since day one and how you made the role your own. I cherish the three years of Sally on screen.”
Bold And The Beautiful News – Fans Were Rooting For Sally Spectra Over Flo Fulton
Other fans, who were highly disappointed by the news, also sounded off. “I’m so upset!” a fan said. “I loved Sally.” Another said she was angry. “Courtney Hope is so talented and beautiful. I can’t believe they would get rid of her. This is a huge mistake!”
One viewer spoke about how he loved the show but felt producers had misjudged “how fans would react to this story and who they were rooting for” and believed most fans were cheering for Sally over Flo Fulton (Katrina Bowden).
Hope took the news of her B&B departure gracefully. “I love my @boldandbeautifulcbs cast and crew and will miss everyone dearly, but await the day we may all play again,” she said. “Some things are out of our control, and I thank the fans for your support through it all!”
